Superintendent’s Message

Dear SAU 56 Families,

“Empathy and Compassion…” 

Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year.  Our focus this year includes 5 imperatives, better known as work study habits.  They include; having our students be active and engaged citizens, effective communicators, critical thinkers, life-long learners and cultivators of personal wellness.

My emphasis for this year will be personal wellness, i.e. empathy and compassion.  My hope is to daily demonstrate empathy and compassion for our students, staff, families and greater community.  What a great way for students to understand what it means to welcome someone new to our school who might not have any friends, or mend old relationships that have fallen by the wayside.  I hope we teach and model for our students how to accept someone for who they are and what they have to offer.

Maya Angelou once said, “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”

I wish everyone a successful school year.
