Welcome
to Somersworth High School Library Media Center's web site. The site
is intended to supply direct access to the library media center, provide
on-line links that support the school's curriculum, offer reviews of books
and other media, and give an overview of the library's resources.
The library media center provides
print and non-print materials in support of learning and of
interest to high school age students.
There are subscriptions to paper magazines and daily
newspapers, as well as access to
CD Rom, microform and on-line periodicals.
Backfiles and indexing for at least
5 years are maintained for retrospective periodical searching,
and frequently for much longer.
The library is part of the New
Hampshire Automated Information System and materials
are borrowed and shared throughout
the state in order to provide for patron needs. If an
item is not available in the local
library, daily searching of the state data base allows for
sharing of materials needed from
another location, and a state van system is used for moving
materials around the state.
Internet access is available as well.
Teaching in the library media center
is aimed at developing student skills in accessing
information, evaluating materials
found, and successful integrating and
citing of resources into student
production.
And of course, reading for pleasure
and personal growth is promoted and encouraged.
